Chronology

Chronology of the Alternaverse

My dating system is : BF - Before the Holt Fire, and: AF - After the Holt Fire. I've tried to include all the major dates, from the "Wolfrider!" prequel to the intrigues thousands of years after the Holt Fire. Keep in mind that this timeline changes and gets updated each time I get a new story idea. 

10,000 BF
The Palace of the High Ones appears 20,000 years in the future. It is thrown back in time and crashes.
Timmain founds the Wolfriders.
Timmain drives Haken from the Palace.
Timmain and Aerth Recognize. Timmain gives birth to Chani.
Gibra and Deir Recognize. Gibra gives birth to Vol (later Voll)
Timmain becomes wolf indefinitely and gives birth to Timmorn Yellow-Eyes. Aerth becomes leader of the Wolfriders.
Construction on Blue Mountain begins
Winnowill born to Haken and Chani.
Timmorn Yellow-Eyes replaces Aerth as the leader of the Wolfriders.
The Wolfrider move south as the glaciers advance towards the Palace.

9500 - 9000 BF
Timmorn Yellow-Eyes leaves the Wolfriders.
Rahnee the She-Wolf becomes the second chief of the Wolfriders.
The tribe begins to call itself "Wolfriders" for the first time.
A small group of elves who had remained in the Frozen Mountains flee south as the glaciers reach Wayfair.
Ekuar, Mekda and Osek remain behind, and try to enter the Palace.
Ekuar, Mekda and Osek are captured by trolls.

9000 - 8,500 BF
The Rootless Ones split off from the Blue Mountain tribe.
Chani dies during construction of Blue Mountain.
Haken disappears. Voll becomes Lord of the Gliders.
The Rootless Ones begin to war with the humans.

8000 AF
Savah born. The Rootless Ones travel to Sorrow's End and become the Sun Folk.
Rahnee the She-Wolf is presumed dead. Prey-Pacer becomes chief of the Wolfriders.

7000 AF
Prey-Pacer dies. Swift-Spear becomes chief of the Wolfriders.
Swift-Spear becomes Two-Spear and declares war on the humans.
Skyfire challenges Two-Spear for the chief's lock.
Two-Spear defeats her, and her supporters turn on him. The Wolfriders split into two tribes.
Briar is born to Two-Spear and Willowgreen.
Two-Edge makes the High Ones' Throne Chamber the new holt of his tribe.
Briar challenges Two-Spear and loses. She is mortally wounded and falls into a magic pool.
The tribe leaves Briar for dead.
Two-Spear is killed. Willowgreen becomes chief. Willowgreen begins secretly removing wolf-blood of the elves.
Willowgreen and Greywolf disappear. Icetooth becomes chief.
Icetooth leads the tribe into Snow Country.

6000 BF
Icetooth and the tribe of Wanderers return to the High One's Throne Chamber.
Icetooth finds and revives Briar. He renames her Kahvi.
Icetooth dies. Kahvi becomes chief of the Wanderers.
Kahvi and the Wanderers save Ekuar from the trolls.
Winnowill finds Smelt on her aborted journey to the Frozen Mountains. She hides him in her private chambers.
Two-Edge is born.
Two-Edge and Smelt expand on Winnowill's chambers.

5000 BF
Winnowill murders Smelt. Two-Edge goes insane under Winnowill's tortures.
The Ballad of Two-Edge: Part One takes place.

3000 BF
A group of elves, lead by the High One Mura, cross the Vastdeep in wooden boats.
The elves arrive in the New Land, becoming the Islanders.

1500 BF
The Founding of Father Tree
Goodtree is born to Tanner and Stormlight.
Stormlight is killed by humans. Tanner dies a year later. Goodtree becomes chieftess.
Goodtree goes on a spirit quest and discovers both her soulname and her plantshaping powers.
Goodtree founds Father Tree Holt.
Goodtree Recognizies Lionleaper. Speedwell is born.
Speedwell Recognizes Fireweed. Spark is born.
Fireweed and Speedwell die. Spark is raised by the tribe.

1425 BF
Mantricker is born to Goodtree and Lionleaper.
Spark comes into his treeshaping powers. Changes his name to Kindle.

1300 BF
Goodtree names Mantricker as her heir.
Goodtree dies. Mantricker becomes chief.

1200 BF
Mantricker Recognizes Thornflower. Bearclaw is born.

620 BF
Birdcall is born.

615 BF
Rain is born.

The Flying Fish is caught in a circumpolar current and dragged westward.
The crew of the Flying Fish makes landfall in Hearthstone after being lost at sea for months.
The survivors struggle to defend their territory against the native dreadclaws.

Kindle dies.

Rain Recognizes Moonsbreath for a second time.

70 BF 
Shale is born.
An attack of foaming sickness sweeps the Wolfrider territory. Rain is stricken.
Trueflight dies. Fawnspot dies. Amber and Thistlemane die.
Rain recovers his healing powers and heals the remaining afflicted elves and wolves.
Chief's Son takes place (103 BF to 70 BF)

Strongbow Recognizes Moonshade. Crescent is born.

The Followers of Gotara return to the forest.

The wolf Farsong is killed by humans, and Crescent's wolf-friend Windchaser is abducted.
Bearclaw frees Windchaser.

Woodhue is captured and tortured. He becomes One-Eye.
Crescent is murdered by humans at the river.
Bearclaw kills the Shaman of Gotara. Joyleaf begins to challenge the path he is leading the Wolfriders down.

33 BF
Snapper (Bearclaw's wolf) is poisoned. Bearclaw goes insane.
Joyleaf challenges Bearclaw for the chief's lock.
Joyleaf wins. Bearclaw exiles himself to the deep forests.
Joyleaf declares herself Blood of Nine Chiefs.
Shale and Eyes High Recognize.
Chieftess Pride takes place (36 BF to 33 BF)
Chief's Brother takes place (64 BF to 33BF)

31 BF 
Joyleaf orders Eyes High down from her nest.
Skywise is born.
Human footprints are discovered around Eyes High's abandoned nest.
Stars Rising (None Falling) takes place.

Joyleaf goes hunting bear. She is wounded by the bear and rescued by Bearclaw.
Bearclaw and Joyleaf Recognize. Joyleaf returns to the tribe. Bearclaw remains in exile.
Midsummer's Hunt takes place (25 BF to 23 BF).

23 BF 
Longbranch and Brownberry Recognize.
The Followers of Gotara leave the forest.
Swift, Blood of Ten Chiefs, is born.

Nightfall is born.

Dewshine is born.

The Followers of Gotara return to the forest.

Madcoil
Bearclaw, still in exile, confronts the Second Shaman of Gotara.
Madcoil is born.
Madcoil attacks the Wolfriders. Brownberry, Longbranch and Foxfur are killed. Joyleaf is mortally wounded.
Joyleaf passes New Moon to Swift.
Swift and the tribe kill Madcoil.
Chief's Lock takes place.
The continuation of Chief's Brother takes place (23 BF to 6 BF).

5 BF
 Newstar is born.

The Year of the Fire 
Journey to Sorrow's End
Wing is born.
Redlance is captured and tortured by humans. Swift and a rescue party save him.
Rain heals Redlance. The humans set fire to the forest.
The Wolfriders flee to the Troll Caves. Greymung and Picknose abandon them in the desert.
The Wolfriders cross the Burning Waste.
The Wolfriders discover Sorrow's End.
Swift Recognizes Rayek.
The Wolfriders settle in Sorrow's End. Swift and Rayek remain at odds.
The Wolfriders turn the zwoot stampede. Swift and Rayek reconcile and become lifemates.
Grayling and Hansha become lovemates.
Her Secret Soulname is Tam takes place.
One of those Years takes place.

Suntop and Venka are born.
Culture Shock takes place.

7 AF 
The Quest Begins

New Beginnings takes place.
Humans arrive at Sorrow's End. Strongbow challenges Swift and loses.
Swift and Rayek set off to search for other elves.
Venka bonds with her first wolf-friend, Patch.
Swift and Rayek cross the Burning Waste and infiltrate the abandoned Troll Caverns.
Swift and Rayek are captured by Picknose.
Three Trite Tales - The Lost Tale takes place.
Swift and Rayek escape, and proceed towards Blue Mountain.
Savah is trapped outside her body. She sends a message to Suntop.
The Wolfriders, minus Dart, Grayling, Woodlock, Rainsong, Newstar and Wing, leave Sorrow's End in search of Swift and Rayek, led by Suntop and Skywise. Dart and Grayling found the Jackwolf Riders.
Grayling and Hansha become lifemates.
Chief of Many takes place.

The Wolfriders are attacked by the Chosen Eight and their birds after Strongbow shoots down Kureel's fledgling.
Strongbow's wolf Briersting is killed.
The Wolfriders, save for Skywise, Venka, Suntop, One-Eye, Redlance and Nightfall,are taken captive in Blue Mountain.
Three Trite Tales takes place.

Strongbow is tortured by Winnowill.
Dewshine Recognizes Tyldak.
Swift and Rayek at set upon by Preservers in the Forbidden Grove.
Swift and Rayek find Skywise and the twins in wrapstuff. Skywise tells them what has happened. Redlance and Nightfall are found the next night.
The escaped Wolfriders find One-Eye and storm Blue Mountain.

Captives of Blue Mountain
Swift meets with Lord Voll. Strongbow is freed.
Winnowill attempts unsucessfully to seduce Rayek.
Swift decides to stay in Blue Mountain. Strongbow leaves with Moonshade.
Winnowill kidnaps Suntop. Rayek, Swift and Venka pursue.
Strongbow and Moonshade return to join the hunt for Winnowill.
Strongbow wounds Winnowill. Suntop escapes briefly.
Rayek and Venka stun Winnowill with their sendings. Winnowill falls off a tall staircase. Savah's spirit is set free. Winnowill crawls away to heal herself.
Tyldak and Dewshine accept their Recognition and become lifemates.
Voll leads the Wolfriders away from Blue Mountain towards the Frozen Mountains.
Voll and his giant hawk are shot down by trolls. The Gliders, save Tyldak, retreat.
One-Eye is almost killed by trolls. Treestump takes the death-blow instead. Treestump dies.
Rayek is pinned with a troll-spear.
Kahvi and the Go-Backs appear to save the Wolfriders.
Out of Time takes place.

The Palace War
Rain heals Rayek.
Rayek meets Ekuar.
The Wolfriders prepare for war. Pike meets Skot and Vaya.
The Wolfriders and the Go-Backs go to war against the trolls.
Vaya is captured, but rescued by Skot, Pike, and a small band of warriors.
The elves, with the help of Two-Edge's armour, defeat Guttlekraw and the trolls.
The Palace is reclaimed by the elves. Timmain appears in wolf form. She turns into an elf, then back into a wolf.
The Wolfriders settle in and around the Palace.
Kissing Lessons takes place.
The continuation of The Ballad of Two-Edge: Part One takes place.
Blood Feud takes place.

8 AF
Windkin is born.
Yun is born to Mardu and Skywise.

10 AF 
Siege at Blue Mountain

Aroree appears at the Palace, seeking help. Winnowill has imprisoned all the Gliders and is building the Great Egg by feeding off the Gliders' energy.
Teir is born to Kahvi and Vok.
Rayek, Swift, the twins, Redlance and Nightfall journey to Blue Mountain. Winnowill sends Kureel and the remains of the Chosen Eight to kidnap Suntop.
They fail to capture Suntop but capture Swift instead. Swift is taken to Blue Mountain and paralyzed by Winnowill's magic.
Suntop goes out to Skywise, and calls for help.
Skywise says goodbye to baby Yun and gives her his leather headband.
Skywise and the Wolfriders descend from the Frozen Mountains to join Rayek and the twins.
Winnowill drains Swift of all her wolfblood as a "gift" to the chieftess.
Rayek invades Blue Mountain with Skywise and a small party of elves.
Winnowill completes the Great Egg.
Winnowill attempts again to seduce Rayek. Rayek wounds Winnowill.
Rain heals Swift.
Rayek, Swift, Rain, and the twins subdue Winnowill. Winnowill is sealed in wrapstuff.
Skywise is trapped in the rock by Door.
As Rayek flees with the twins and Rain, Swift tries to carry Winnowill out as she searches for Skywise.
Swift abandons Winnowill's cocoon. She rescues Skywise from the rock.
Blue Mountain collapses. Winnowill is killed, with all the other Gilders.
Rayek leaves for the Frozen Mountains, with One-Eye and Clearbrook, to bring the souls of the Gliders to the Palace.
The Ballad of Two-Edge: Part Two takes place.

The Cry from Beyond
Teru Recognizes Newstar.
When Eyes Meet Eyes takes place.
Redlance founds the temporary Forbidden Grove Holt.
Swift isolates herself, mourning the loss of her wolfblood.
Rayek reaches the Frozen Mountains. The Gliders souls revive the Palace.
Suntop hears the Cry from Beyond. He calls out to Rayek.
Skywise considers having his wolfblood removed.
Rayek brings the Palace to the Forbidden Grove. To prove it is safe to the Wolfriders he flies them all to Sorrow's End.
The Wolfriders reunite with their families in Sorrow's End. The Sun Villagers hold a festival.
Rain forces Recognition with Redlance and Nightfall.
The Wolfriders, minus Scouter, plus Zhantee and Shenshen, leave in search of the Cry.
The Palace lands in the New Land.
Redlance begins work on Thorny Mountain Holt.
Rayek and Suntop realize the Cry is coming from the original appearance of the Palace of the High Ones.
Rayek fleetingly considers trying to save the High Ones.
He accepts that the High Ones cannot be saved. The Cry sudden stops.
Timmain the wolf leaves the Palace and disappears into the forest.
Skywise asks Rain to remove his wolfblood.
Homecoming takes place.

The continuation of Chief of Many takes place.

Two-Edge, Aurek and Aroree live in the ruins of Blue Mountain.
The Ballad of Two-Edge: Part Three takes place.

The Islanders in Green Moon Bay hear the Cry.
Savin sets out from Green Moon Bay to find the source of the Cry.
Savin reaches Thorny Mountain.
Savin and Skywise Recognize.
The Journey North takes place.
Savin is greeted by the Wolfriders. She reveals she comes from a tribe of sea-faring elves at the southern tip of the New Land.
Savin moves in at Thorny Mountain Holt.
A Different Wolfsong takes place.

The Palace returns to Sorrow's End for a visit.
Ahnshen the Weaver and Vurdah Recognize.
Rainsong comes into her healing powers.
Rainsong's Quest takes place.

Kimo is born to Newstar and Teru.
Spar is born to Redlance and Nightfall.
Quicksilver is born to Savin and Skywise.
Rayek sends the Palace for Yun and Mardu to come visit Skywise.
Savin suffers from postpartum depression.
Savin and Skywise take Yun and Quicksilver to Green Moon Bay.
Saving and Skywise agree to split their time between Green Moon Bay and Thorny Mountain.
Culture Shock: Part Two takes place.

Founding of the Great Holt

The Wolfriders move south into the rainforest.
Redlance begins work on the Great Holt.

Suntop is injured by a shagback.
Quicksilver goes on a spirit quest and finds her soulname.
Call to Hunt takes place.

Quicksilver sails with the pirates of Green Moon Bay aboard the Lady Mura.
A Sea Change takes place.

Quicksilver and Suntop discover each others' soulnames, and become lifemates.
Venka and Zhantee become lifemates, and exchange soulnames.

The Re-Founding of Thorny Mountain

Strongbow, Moonshade, One-Eye, Clearbrook, Redlance and Nightfall move to Thorny Mountain to revive the Thorny Mountain Holt.
Suntop masters flying the Palace.
One's Own Way takes place.

Redlance becomes Chief of the Thorny Mountain Holt Wolfriders.
Humans briefly camp near at Thorny Mountain, but Redlance forces them to leave.
Growing Pains takes place.

35 AF
Woodlock and Rainsong join the permanent members of Thorny Mountain Holt.

c. 50 AF
Eastwaker and the survivors of the Flying Fish reach a truce with the dreadclaws.

82 AF 
Wing and Behtia Recognize at the Festival of Flood and Flower.
Wolfriders visit the Sun Village, Windkin among them.
Windkin and Ahdri become lovemates. Windkin stays in Sorrow's End.

84 AF 
Ember is born to Wing and Behtia.
Smoking Mountain enters a period of increased volcanic activity.

86 AF 
The Reawakening of Smoking Mountain

Smoking Mountain continues to rumble. An earthquake sets off a rockslide at Sorrow's End.
Three elves are killed, including Rayek's father Ingen. The well at Sorrow's End dries up.
The zwoot herd stampedes.
Ahdri and the Jackwolf Riders travel to Smoking Mountain.
Ahdri diverts an underground stream back towards Sorrow's End. The well fills again.
Crisis at Sorrow's End takes place.
Jarrah comes to the Great Holt to visit with Rayek and Ekuar.

90 AF 
Ekuar and Jarrah become lovemates.

98 AF 
The northern trolls in Picknose's Kingdom revolt. Picknose is forced from the throne.
The new troll king declares war on the Go-Backs.

102 - 103 AF 
The Go-Back Exile

Teir challenges Kahvi for leadership of the Go-Backs.
Teir leads the Go-Backs away from the Frozen Mountains.
The Go-Backs settle on the sea, and found a new lodge, later called Passage Point.
Kahvi and Teir continue to quarrel over leadership of the Go-Backs.
Exiles takes place.

104 -105 AF 
Manx is born to Vok and Mardu.
Kahvi sees a vision of her past in the Palacestone, and learns the truth of the Go-Backs' origins.
Mardu, Vok and their followers leave Kahvi and take the Northern Passage towards the New Land.
Passage Point takes place.

106 AF 
Mardu's tribe sets up camp at Snowmelt. After a summer spent there, they continue through the mountains.
Mardu's tribe makes winter camp at Mardu's Arch.

107 AF 
Mardu's tribe move west across the Plainswaste and become the Plainsrunners.
Teir and Kirjan continues south alone, trying to find the Wolfriders and the Great Holt.
Ember and Coppersky come to visit the Great Holt.

108 AF 
Teir and Kirjan meet up with the Wolfriders at the edge of the Great Spur rainforest.
Teir and Ember become lovemates.
Yun meets Wavecatcher. They learn each other soulnames and become lifemates.
Suntop takes the Palace to the Plainsrunners' camp. Teir and Kirjan reunited with their tribe.
Ember and Coppersky return to Sorrow's End.
New World takes place.

Ember returns to the Plainrunners' camp to join Teir.
The conclusion of New World takes place.

110 AF 
The Wild Hunt formed. Ember and Teir lead a small band of elves on periodic quests throughout the New Land.
In the Frozen Mountain, Picknose recovers his kingdom from King Slagg.

Ember and the Wild Hunt discover Howling Rock.

Cheipar is born to Pike, Skot and Vaya.

152 AF 
Return to Blue Mountain

Timmain becomes an elf again.
Suntop and Timmain realize that Haken the Firstcomer is still alive.
Suntop leads a team to the remnants of Blue Mountain to find Haken.
Suntop and his team meet Aurek.
Suntop finds Haken.
Haken attempts to steal the Palace in an attempt to resurrect his long-dead lifemate Chani, Timmain's firstborn daughter.
Suntop channels the powers of all elves - living and dead - to stop Haken.
Suntop defeats Haken and recovers mastery of the Palace.
Suntop becomes Sunsteam.
Sunstream and Quicksilver Recognize.
Aurek leaves Blue Mountain to live in the Palace.
Aurek and Vaya become lovemates.
Return to Blue Mountain takes place.
Two-Edge visits the Palace and meets Winnowill's spirit.
The conclusion of  The Ballad of Two-Edge: Part Three takes place.

Weatherbird is born.
Teir and Ember Recognize.

A small group of Plainsrunner leave the tribe and heads for the forests east of the Plainswaste, lured by tales of Thorny Mountain brought by the Wild Hunt.

Strongbow and Moonshade Recognize a third time.
Kit is born at Thorny Mountain Holt.

218 AF 
The offshoot of the Plainsrunners, lead by Vorik, arrive at Thorny Mountain. They settle on the western side of the mountain.
Strongbow coins the term "Yellow Creek Pack" as an insult. The Plainsrunners adopt it as their tribe name.

Jarrah and Ekuar become lifemates.
Brightmetal comes to Sorrow's End.
Brightmetal and Shenshen become lovemates.
Shenshen goes with Brightmetal back to Blue Mountain.
Courtship takes place.

246 AF
Kit begins her experiments with a written language.

253 - 256 AF 
Vaya and Aurek Recognize. Littlefire is born.
It becomes clear that Littlefire has developmental difficulties.

259 AF  
 Kit completes her first "howling hide".

260 AF 
Shenshen and Brightmetal become lifemates.
Littlefire has trouble interactive with elves in the Great Holt.
Turtle takes place.

Littlefire begins to visit the other tribes on the World of Two Moons.

296 AF 
Littlefire comes to Thorny Mountain Holt.
Littlefire is nearly cast out after numerous conflicts.
Kit and Littlefire become lovemates.
Littlefire learns how to knap blackstone (obsidian)
Packright takes place.

Shale and Eyes High Recognize a second time. Cricket is born.

Zhantee is injured by a falling tree.
Zhantee and Venka Recognize.
Completion takes place.

Tass is born.

While travelling with the Wild Hunt, Weatherbird finds a magic pool imprinted with the memories of a Firstcomer.
The magic in the pool gradually takes over Weatherbird's mind.
The possessed Weatherbird threatens the Wolfriders at arrowpoint.
Cheipar and Coppersky subdue Weatherbird.
Cheipar learns Weatherbird soulname and calls her back to consciousness.
Weatherbird learns Cheipar's soulname. They become lifemates.
Echoes takes places.

Founding of the Evertree

Redlance leads the Thorny Mountain Wolfriders back to the Homeland.
